Winchester, Tennessee, is the county seat of beautiful Franklin County. Come visit and check out the Art Deco-style courthouse that is the downtown focal point. Winchester got it’s name from General James Winchester who fought in the Revolutionary War and later became the Speaker in the Tennessee Legislature. General Winchester also served as a Brigadier General and was credited for founding Memphis along with Andrew Jackson and John Overton. Well known as the home of Tims Ford State Park which has 10,700 acres of water in our southern portion. Today Tims Ford is considered to be a premier bass fishing lake as well as a top recreational lake.
